Kudenia — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Kudenia (“the app”) is a vocabulary learning app made by Syntopia LTD (“we”, “us”).

In short: we do not collect anything. The app has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no servers. It can reach the network, but only to talk to Google Play about purchases — never to send us anything, because there is no “us” for it to send to.

1. What the app stores, and where

Everything the app knows about you stays in the app’s own private storage on your device:

No part of this is transmitted to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

2. What the app connects to

The app requests three permissions, and all three exist for one reason — buying things: internet and network state, used only by Google Play’s billing service, and billing, which is how Android lets an app offer in-app purchases.

Your learning is never sent anywhere. The words you have met, your answers, your streak and your level are written to this device and read back from it. No part of that is uploaded, and there is nowhere for it to go: we run no servers.

The app is fully playable with no connection at all. Turn the internet off and every session, every review and every word still works; the only thing that stops working is the shop.

We do not use analytics, advertising or trackers, and there are no third-party SDKs beyond Google Play’s own billing library.

3. Android’s own backup

Android offers a system-level backup feature. If you have backup enabled in your Android settings, the operating system may copy your learning data — words met, progress, streak — to your own Google account, so it returns when you set up a new device. Your purchases are deliberately excluded from this, for the reason given in section 4.

This is a feature of Android, not of this app. The data goes to your Google account, under your control and Google’s privacy policy — never to us. You can turn it off in your device settings, and you can delete backups from your Google account at any time.

4. Purchases

If you buy Pro or hint credits, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details, your card, or your name. The app records only that a purchase happened, and that record stays on your device — in a separate file that is deliberately excluded from Android’s backup, so a purchase cannot be duplicated onto a second device.

Google Play’s own privacy policy covers the transaction, including anything Google collects to process it. That part is between you and Google; we receive none of it.

One consequence of having no servers, stated plainly. Pro always comes back — Google Play remembers permanently that you own it, so a reinstall or a new phone restores it. Unspent hint credits do not. They live only in that separate file on this device, the one we deliberately keep out of Android’s backup. That exclusion is what stops a purchase being duplicated onto a second phone, and the honest cost of it is that unspent credits do not travel to a new phone either. We have no record to restore them from, because keeping one would mean an account system and a server watching your usage, which this app deliberately does not have. If you are about to change phone, spend your credits first.

5. Children

The app is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

6. Third-party content in the app

The app bundles a word-frequency list and three typefaces made by other people. These are data and design files packaged inside the app — they do not run code, contact anyone, or observe your use. Their licences are shown in the app on the Credits screen.

7. Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app collects anything, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described here rather than made quietly.
